Huge blow for Chelsea as Maurizio Sarri is given difficult selection choice by surprise illness of this key player (fans won't be happy about this)

Chelsea are set to rotate a big chunk of their team against PAOK, and Emerson Palmieri was set to be one of those.

Sadly though, news filtering out from the Chelsea camp yesterday revealed that the left full back who signed in January hasn’t travelled to Greece, having earlier missed training with a fever.

It’s a real blow for the Italian, as he hasn’t played a minute yet this season. This was going to be the perfect chance to show his coach what he can do, and get some minutes in his legs ahead of another potential start against Liverpool next week.

It also gives Sarri a question mark over who to play at left back. Marcos Alonso needs a rest and Emerson is his natural replacement. Cesar Azpilicueta may have to shift over to the left again to fill that slot, and ideally we’d want him to have a day off too.
