If the rumours are true, Antonio Conte could soon be appointed as the new Real Madrid manager.

It was another terrible weekend for Los Blancos.

On Sunday night in El Clasico at the Camp Nou, Real Madrid were battered 5-1 by eternal rivals Barcelona.

The defeat left Madrid ninth in the Spanish top flight with only 14 points from 10 matches.

Even before the Barcelona game, pressure was mounting on Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui.

Following the match, rumours sped into high gear that Lopetegui will be sacked this week.

Eden Hazard & Chelsea

If Conte does become the new Real Madrid boss, Chelsea could be beneficiaries when it comes Eden Hazard’s future at the club.

Hazard, who is 27-years-old , is under contract at Chelsea until 2020.

For several months – if not longer – stories have been swirling that Hazard is keen to leave Chelsea to join Real Madrid.

However, if Antonio Conte does become Real Madrid’s manager, that could mean that Hazard will steer clear of the Santiago Bernabeu.

Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has reported on Monday morning that Chelsea are keen to capitalise on Conte’s Real Madrid appointment by opening “negotiations with Hazard soon.

The assumption floating about is that Hazard, who worked with Conte at Chelsea, won’t want to work with the Italian at Real Madrid.

Will that assumption prove to be true?
