Maurizio Sarri wants to make Leonardo Bonucci his first summer signing as Chelsea FC boss, according to a report in Italy.
Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that Sarri has his sights set on the Italian defender once he finally takes over the reins at Stamford Bridge.
The same article states that Chelsea FC will have to see off competition from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the current transfer window.
According to the same story, Bonucci would cost Chelsea FC in the region of £50m this summer, which is a significant fee for a centre-half who will turn 32 next May.
Chelsea FC confirmed Antonio Conte’s sacking on Thursday evening following months of speculation engulfing the former Juventus head coach.
Sarri will be tasked with steering Chelsea FC back into the top four after the west London side finished in fifth place in the Premier League last term.
Conte won the Premier League and the FA Cup during his two-season stint in charge of the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Chelsea FC haven’t made any signings in the summer transfer window and are facing intense speculation trio Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard and Willian.
The Blues beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season.
